Calibre Academy Winter Concert

At Calibre Academy of Surprise, we are proud to offer many musical opportunities for the students. The benefits conveyed through music education can be grouped into four categories: Success in School, Success in Society, Success in Life and Success in Developing Intelligence.  Parents and educators agree about the positive effects that music and arts education has in the growth and development of our children.  Thank you for supporting your child and music at our school!

THROUGH READING, WRITING, AND CREATING MUSIC, STUDENTS:

  • Develop problem solving skills
  • Conceptualize, organize, and apply their ideas
  • Identify with the ideas of others

Calibre General Music Classes

Music is a powerful and primary form of expression for the human spirit in every culture; the heart, soul, and voice of the people.  Through Music, people are able to integrate other academic disciplines, to develop reading and language skills, to gain greater mathematical understanding and to experience the characteristics of other cultures.  Music educates the whole child.

All Calibre students will be a part of organizing or performing in the Winter Concert every December.  The students at Calibre Academy are all talented and also have an opportunity to be a part of the Calibre Variety Show at the end of the year.

Calibre Academy Winter Concert

Each December, the Calibre Academy Music Department presents the Winter Concert in the gymnasium.  The Program showcases both the instrumental and vocal talents of our students and is guaranteed to add to your holiday spirit.  The evening includes concerts throughout the night featuring all kindergarten through fifth grade classes, the Calibre Choir, and the Calibre Band.  Calibre Academy invites parents, family, and friends to our Winter Concert.

Calibre Academy Variety Show

The Calibre Academy Variety Show will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 6PM.  Applications will be available in March and auditions will take place on April 10th in the music room.  Any student at Calibre Academy may audition, but be prepared.  Not every act that auditions will be chosen for the show.  All acts MUST be age appropriate.  For more information, you may contact Mr. Swanson at allyn.swanson@learningmatters.org.

Calibre Academy Band

The Calibre Band gives students the opportunity to learn music theory, how to play their instrument, and how to work together as a team.  Beginning through advanced instruction is offered to fourth through eighth grade students on brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.  Rehearsals for beginning band members are after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00PM.  Advanced Band rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:00PM.  Advanced band members may stay from 3-4 to work on their homework or help the beginning band students.  The Calibre Band will be featured at the Winter Concert and have other performances throughout the year.  For more information, you may contact Mr. Swanson at allyn.swanson@calibreacademy.com.
