Character Counts

There are 6 pillars. Each grade level will present the character trait of the month to another grade. Each character trait has a color. All assemblies will take place in the MPR. They all start at 2:00 PM. The 1st of every month, the Assembly will take place and the entire school may wear the Character Color of the Month. The colors and dates  are listed below.

 

  • Friday, September 1st: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Green
    8th grade presents to Kindergarten – Responsibility
  • Monday, October 2nd: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Blue
    7th grade presents to 1st grade– Trustworthiness
  • Wednesday, November 1st: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Purple
    6th grade presents to 2rd grade– Citizenship @ 11:40 AM
  • Friday, December 1st: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Red
    5th grade presents to 3rd grade – Caring
  • Tuesday, January 9th: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Orange
    4th grade presents to Pre K – Fairness
  • Thursday, February 1st: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Yellow
  • 3rd grade presents to 5th grade – Respect
  • Thursday, March 1st: Character Counts Whole School Color Day- Yellow
    2nd grade presents 4th grade & 6th grade – Respect
  • Monday, April 9th: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Blue
    1st grade presents to 7th grade –  Trustworthiness
  • Tuesday, May 1st: Character Counts Whole School Color Day – Red
    Kindergarten presents to 8th Grade – Caring

 

TRUSTWORTHINESS (blue- think “true blue”)
Be honest
Don’t deceive, cheat or steal
Be reliable; do what you say you’ll do
Be loyal
Have the courage to do the right thing
Build a good reputation
Keep your promises

RESPECT (yellow- “the Golden rule”)
Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule
Be tolerant of differences
Use good manners, not bad language
Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone
Be considerate of the feelings of others
Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements

RESPONSIBILITY (green – think responsible for a garden or finances)
Do what you are supposed to do
Persevere; keep on trying
Always do your best
Use self-control
Be self-disciplined
Think before you act; consider the consequences
Be accountable for your choices

FAIRNESS (orange – dividing an orange equally with a friend)
Play by the rules
Take turns and share
Be open-minded; listen to others
Don’t take advantage of others
Don’t blame others carelessly

CARING (red-think of a heart)
Be kind
Be compassionate and show you care
Express gratitude
Forgive others
Help people in need

CITIZENSHIP (purple)
Do your share to make your school and community better
